Okay so Rihanna will always be controversial – her sexually suggestive songs and look-at-me style indicates this but her collaboration with Chris Brown for her Birthday Cake has gone a little too far in my books.
Whether she likes it or not, Rihanna has fans who look up to her as a role-model and though that can be a blessing it can also be a curse.
Her every move is scrutinized with a lot read into what she does, even if she hasn’t said so herself.
Everyone waited with bated breath to see what she would do, post Chris and everyone was proud of her walking away when many women don’t.
The restraining order was enforced and they both went on with their lives…
Righto, now that brings me to what the Birthday Cake remix is conveying…
(Hear the song here)
This song is sexually suggestive, there is no two ways about that but hearing: “Girl I wanna f**k you right now (right now) Been a long time, I’ve been missing your body” is so blatant. So in-your-face.
The first thing I’m thinking is that she are Chris B are getting it in and are back together.
Rihanna hasn’t dispelled this, in fact she has said nothing at all regarding this collaboration.
Now that is a little risky. If you going to leave a potential reconciliation rumour hanging in the air there’s bound to be a backlash. Unless of course that is what she wants.
The thing is, CB isn’t the bad guy in this remix. Rihanna is.
It appears that she just conveniently ‘forgot’ how he assaulted her. Lemme put it this way: how he BEAT her ass.
And it seems like Riri is willing to forgive and forget all that has transpired. (Read the full police report here)
Now I don’t have an issue with someone giving another a second chance but what irks me is that she is singing a song like this with a man who beat her like that.
I don’t think Rihanna ever stop contacting Chris and I think she has been waiting to get back together with him, to tell others: “no, his changed.” I think she still loves him and cant forgot their sexual chemistry.
Especially when she sings:
“Remember how you did it? Remember how you fit it?
If you still wanna kiss it. Come, come, come and get it.
Sweeter than a rice cake, cake worth sipping. Kill it, tip it Cake, fill it”
How is she NOT referring to wanting him back?
