My mini-me started crawling this week! (Cue applause)
Very wobbly at first nonetheless crawling,
What a sight to see up until the first bump on the mouth.
She looked at me like: how dare you allow that to happen to me, women!
So after a huge celebration – where we ate all the yummy things (cough cough) it dawned on me what this actually means.
Up until yesterday, I didn’t realize for some unknown reason that a whole world of new hazards has opened up to my little crab.
(Her star sign is cancer hence the crab reference not because she pinches me…)
The bathroom is danger zone #1
I just imagine the fat slimy slug-germ in the Domestos advert rubbing his hands filthy feelers in glee:
“Come, my child, come. Come to the moist goodness of the white toilet bowl.”
Shit! Pun not intended.
This means my daily list has another welcome addition. Clean bathroom expertly everyday. Lovely.
But all in the name of what is best for my child right?
Then there’s every single floor in the house. And almost all of our floors are tiled.
Sigh. More work.
Danger zone #2
As I’ve mentioned before – to everyone that will hear – Mycah is an advanced baby.
She is so intelligent and is really sharp.
She has this will power that skriks vir niks.
If she sees something, she must to touch or taste it - so help me God. and she just somehow knows where all the electrical outlets and leads and buttons and knobs and levers are - even if you hide them from view.
Like my laptop charger lead. If she doesnt try to press the keys she pulls on the laptop charger leads constantly even if I disguise it from her view. I dont know how she does it.
Last night during bedtime, I used the backlight from my blackberry to shine some light into the room, once she saw the phone she attempted grabbing it over and over again. And after grabbing it, she promptly puts it in her mouth to taste the 'hype' surrounding a smartphone.
Naturally I cant allow her to do that. so I hid the phone under the pillow when she wasnt looking.
She artfully snuggles up to me and rolls around and plays peakaboo and when I look again she has the blackberry in her hand once again.
How she reached under the pillow and dragged it out I do not know. That child has serious determination.
but then again so do I...
