"Tahlia why must I do the washing? Isn't this your duty???"
This was posted on facebook today from the husband of a good friend of mine
and it made me get so damn annoyed. Not with them but we the stereotype.
So because shes a women and wife - she must do the washing?
Views like these piss me off! Firstly we are in the 20th century and have moved away from those 1950's 'ideal' homes. Things don't work like that anymore. Both women and men work.
Secondly women take up a significant portion of the workplace nowadays whilst some men stay at home. (its like the roles have reversed)so therefore we gotta re-evaluate our 'roles' as men and women
Thirdly to place how things should be done and how we should live and and and and - is placing us as human beings into boxes that we simply wont fit into -duh?!
I personally feel that since both men and women have to work to bring in an income to survive both should help within the home. It is beyond unfair for a women to have to come from work to more work at home while her man can chill because 'i had such a rough day at work'
oh for f*cks sake! Really now?
(plus washing some dishes really isnt so bad - its just about getting it over and done with. the more often you do them, the less there will be next time around)
If mentality like the above-mentioned really needs to change.
