Hotel California is a song about anything addictive and corruptive that drags you down and wrecks your life
Be it lust (which is the example many websites say the song is about) gambling, drinking, drugs or anything else which you allow yourself to become possessed with.
I also think, there are satanic references within this song - the similarities are too obvious to be coincidental
(I don't believe in coincidence)
Love songs like this because it runs a little deeper - there's more to it and it makes you ponder and really think :)
