My future president in training is
developing teeth which will enable her to chew, eat, bite, grind. She’s getting
to ready to speak proper words (not the Narnian she's currently speaking) to
deliver that award-winning speech later on.
So because new brilliant chompers
are erupting, her body somehow reckons it needs to be deal with this growth in
a serious manner.
The tooth that comes out first is
known as milk or cutting teeth – because the tooth ‘cuts out’ from the softer
gum.
Naturally this is very painful for
some babies while for others it’s hardly a fuss. Some days Mycah-Mae is such a
trooper; crawling around, cruising while holding on to the couch, laughing out
loud, singing to her toys and other days she is little miss grumpy – this
happens each and every time a new tooth erupts.
Presently her two bottom teeth are
showing while both of her top two “vampire” teeth are almost out – she is
clearly not following the teeth order rules – not that she would have; my child
is special and a fast developer.
When her first tooth came out, it
was accompanied with a ghastly and very itchy rash bothers her at night more
than anything. This botheration reappears and disappears with each tooth!
Another annoying teething ‘side-effect’
I’ve noticed is a painful mouth which in turn means she doesn’t want to
breastfeed or take a bottle because it hurts to feed which in turns means a
frustrated and hungry tot.
To help baby along, we use Teejel or
Ashton and Parsons seems to offer a very brief rebate as well as a small dose
of Panado in the evening to help baby (and mommy) through the night – not often
though!
Also expect your baby to munch on your
face, her clothes, her toes, the furniture – everything and her bite is worse
than her bark.
Despite all the up-all-nights and
grumpiness just to see that toothy grin just melts my heart each and every
time.
